Doodlebug Tuesday Tutorial

I'm glad you're here today because I have a Doodlebug Design tutorial for you on how to make the mini binder paper sac that I made for this teacher's card.

To get started you will need some binder paper, regular scissors and mini pinking scissors, a corner rounder punch and some craft glue.

The first thing you want to do is cut off the left hand margin of your binder paper, just enough to remove the holes.

Next, cute the length of your paper to 4 1/2".

Now turn your piece of paper over and cut along the red margin line.

Keeping your piece of paper face down, make about a 1/4" flap on the left hand side.

Then fold your paper in half. Your margin should now be on top.

Next unfold your paper and apply a bit of glue along the flap to secure your bag shut.

Give your glue a few minutes to dry, then take your corner rounder and punch both bottom corners. If you don't have a corner rounder, you could do this with a regular pair of scissors.

After you rounded the bottom corners, turn the bottom of your bag up 1/4", making sure the pink margin line is face down. This is the back of your bag.

Now apply some glue to seal the bottom closed.

At the top of your bag you are going to cut about 2/3 of the way down the top margin on each side along the fold.

With both sides cut, you can now fold the top layer of the bag down about 1/2".

Along this folded line use a pair of mini pinking sheers to cut off the flap.

Lastly, cute the back part of the bag along the top, making diagonal lines at the sides. All done!

Now you can decorate your little bag with stamps as I did here. I used the new Doodlebug/Hampton Arts stamps sets called Thankful and Doodlepop Icons. You can also embellish your bag with ready-made accents. There's no limit to what you can do!

These little bags can also be used to hold favors for teachers and students. You can use these same steps to create bags using different kinds of paper for other themes, occasions and holidays.

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and have fun making your own mini bags.

Kathy :)
