Cuties

T.G.I.F! I have a fun pet page share for you this lovely Friday. These tiny little cuties are sugar gliders, marsupials from Australia. They are girls named Cinnamon and Sugar and we've had them for six months. Our pets are such an important part of our family that I make sure to include them in our scrapbooks.

I created this page with the Bella Blvd. Tail Waggers & Cat Naps collection. I love that it's not just for dogs and cats! So many of the papers and accents worked perfectly for our gliders.

The wood grain print background paper is from the Finally Fall line, also from Bella Blvd.

It's really cool when a manufacturer creates their lines to coordinate well with each other so that you can seamlessly mix old and new.

All the new Bella Blvd. accents such as Flags, Designer Tape, High Five Alphabets and Button Market went perfectly with this older collection.

Do you have a couple fur balls running around your house? Maybe a parrot? We have a couple cats and two parrots in addition to Cinnamon and Sugar. A mini zoo! Makes going on vacation interesting! Lots of boarding!

Hope you have a great day!

Bella Blvd. Saturday Sketches

Hello!

Have you eaten enough turkey to feed an army yet? ;) Yum! Such good eats! Do you begin decking your halls this weekend for Christmas or are you one of those Black Friday shoppers? Here at the Martin household it's tradition to put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving so we managed to do that. Today I'll spend more time decorating the mantle, banister and side tables. I'll put the finishing touches on everything and tidy up so we'll have lots of time to enjoy it all!

If you are in the mood to do a little crafting over this Thanksgiving weekend, Bella Blvd. has their Saturday Sketches challenge going on!

The sketch is awesome, made for scrapbook pages so it was a bit of a challenge to incorporate it into a card, and lots of fun too!

The Bella Blvd. collection I used for this project is one of my faves, the Finally Fall line. The leaf print paper is actually from last year's fall collection, and matches perfectly!

Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope it's a lot of fun and shared with family and friends! Hopefully, I'll have some pictures of our decorations to share with you this week!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

If you happen to have some down time today or tomorrow and stop by, I'm leaving this Thanksgiving card and wish for you to have a lovely holiday! I hope you have oodles to be thankful for and enjoy sitting around the table with those you love and share a wonderful feast together!

These Bella Blvd. chipboard pumpkins remind me of pumpkin pie, a must for our Thanksgiving meal!

Thanksgiving just isn't complete without a slice of pumpkin pie with real whipped cream! I think if Thanksgiving had a taste, it would be of pumpkin pie! Maybe because it's only on this holiday that I eat pumpkin pie.

Well, I hope your table is full along with your hearts and that you have lots of yummy dishes that remind you of Thanksgiving too!

Free Bella Blvd. Digital Printables

Hey! I have a message for you from Stephanie Hunt, owner of Bella Blvd...

"Ciao ciao Bella fans! Boy, do I have something fun & inspiring for you ... and guess what? I’ve done all the prep work for you! So, next week I host Thanksgiving, and each year I do some “crafty” something for everyone to participate in. Last weekend I thought to myself, "self, if you don’t get going on an idea it’s never going to happen-you’ll run out of time!". So I brainstormed up a digital mini album! Why digital? Because it takes less time (for you at least!) and this way I can have the ENTIRE album done and ready as soon as Thanksgiving is over."

To get all the free printable pages for Stephanie's Thanksgiving book click here.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the free download and your weekend!

Bella Blvd. Inspiration Tuesday

Hi!

Today I have a crafty share for you!

Over on the Bella Blvd. blog it's a Tuesday inspiration day and a couple of my teammates and I have projects posted that we created with this photo in mind.

The rich, warm colors remind me of our local farm and the Bella Blvd. Finally Fall collection!

I love how the Miniatures and Alpha + Bits stickers provided fun accents and phrases for my card!

I'm making my post short and sweet today because something hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday...and made me want to clean my office! I have soooooooooo much stuff that it's out of control! I'm sure a few of you can relate?!?! Maybe more than a few? Anyway, I have my work cut out for me so I better get to it. My hope is that I may be able to share some photos of my office for the first time...minus the clutter! Wish me luck, I'll need it!

Hope you have a swell day!

Happy Birthday Dan!

Hi!

It's a very special day at our house! It's Dan's birthday! Happy Birthday sweetie! Dan is my better half of 19 years, my best friend, and my rock! He's hands down the best dad! Dan has a great sense of humor that get's us through rough times and he's got an attention to detail that keeps our household running smoothly!

In honor of Dan and his special day, I created this card for him.

I'm always challenged when it comes to making manly cards! And I'm happy that I was able to pull it off this time around! Well, it may not be manly, but it's not girlie either! You should see some of the cards Dan has received from me over the years...some with pretty bows and flowers! :)

I used the gorgeous autumn themed papers from Bella Blvd's. 'Finally Fall' collection. The papers were die cut with the smallest circle and oval Spellbinders dies. The only thing I added to make this a birthday card was the green 'Birthday' rub on from my stash.

Well, I'll be spending a bit of time in the kitchen today. It's a tradition in our house to make the birthday person's favorite dinner and sweet treat. If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you can guess that Dan picked Chocolate Chip Cookies instead of cake. He can never get enough of that chewy chocolatey goodness!

For dinner he surpirsed me and picked chicken with green sauce...that's what we call it. It's actually called 'Creamy PHILLY Pesto Chicken' from All Recipes.

To tell you the truth, I put off making this recipe for a little while because the green sauce didn't look too appetizing to me! Anyway, I finally decided to make it and it's become a family favorite! Even requested for a birthday dinner! So, I have a nice big basil plant and freshly toasted pine nuts for the pesto sauce. Instead of rice, I make this with quinoa. My boys love the stuff!

I've mentioned quinoa a couple of times on my blog, but haven't told you what it is because I don't know how to describe it, but I thought Rebecca Crump of Ezra Pound Cake summed it up well when she wrote:

It’s strange stuff, quinoa, a plant-based complete protein, with all nine amino acids. A nutritional powerhouse respected by the Incas as the “mother grain.” But most of us have no idea what to do with it, much less how to pronounce it.

I’d been avoiding those little beads since the Great Quinoa Disaster of 2010, when I cooked it for the first time and wound up with a bowl full of nasty, gritty stuff that tasted like old pennies.

So, I wasn’t even tempted to try quinoa (that’s KEEN-wah, in case you were wondering) again until I saw a recipe for Toasted Quinoa, Corn and Avocado Salad in Marie Simmons’ “Fresh & Fast Vegetarian.” A big, summery, main dish salad with toasted quinoa, fresh sweet corn, diced tomatoes, scallions, creamy avocado and a small handful of cilantro tossed with a bright lime-jalapeño dressing.
And there, in Simmons’ section on quinoa, I finally learned what I’d done wrong the first time.
Before you cook quinoa, you have to RINSE it.

Doh.

Quinoa requires rinsing, because it’s covered in saponin, a natural bitter-tasting compound that protects it from being eaten by birds. Just pour your quinoa into a fine-mesh sieve, place it under running water for about a minute, and it’s ready to be cooked.

Consider me schooled.

Hope you give quinoa a try! It's a delicious, easy way to replace those simple carbs and add nutrition!

Have a super day!

Making the Team

Well...Hellooooooooo!

Today's a great day! The sun is shining! I get to work on a scrapbook page using a cool new digital kit from Two Peas in a Bucket and I finally get to show you one of the cards I submitted to Bella Blvd. that earned a spot on their fabulous new team! Yippee! This week on the Bella Blvd. blog they have been introducing the team and showing you two of the projects submitted by each gal. Today is my introduction day and I hope you can take a moment to hop over and see my cards!

Here's one of my Bella Blvd. card submissions...

These two owls are quite a hoot! So cute! I had to create a card just for them!

This patterned paper was perfect for showing off my love of stitching on projects.

I created this 'together' flag with a sticker and toothpick. One of the little owls volunteered to hold it for me! ;)

I used the 'Finally Fall' collection from Bella Blvd. for this card and the others I submitted. It's really an amazing collection! I got into my grove with this line and had a great time with it.

Together

Hey!

I'm in my office this morning checking e-mail, posting a card share on my blog and stalling...I don't want to clean house! I really enjoy a clean house, but I hate the work it takes to get there! Who likes cleaning anyway? And it's not just the work I don't like, it's how fast the work gets trashed! My sweet boy will come home after I've been cleaning all day and put both hands on the front door leaving prints on the glass I cleaned only hours before! Then the dear boy goes to the coat closet to put his shoes away, which is so cool of him, but proceeds to leave a bunch of playground sand on the floor!

Then there's our furry cats! Have you seen a photo of them? I'll attach one at the end of this post. Anyway, they are extremely furry! It makes them the softest lovable little beasts, but the fur! It's crazy how much fur wafts around in clumps and gets everywhere, even in the freezer! Just how furry is it? It's soooooo furry that I often have to vacuuming the walls! Yep! Little clumps stuck to the walls! It's insane! If we didn't love those two little fur bags...well you know where they would be! On the curb with their kitty dishes! The ones with the little fishies on the bottom! :)

Okay, enough complaining. And whining. I have it good! Real good...to live in such a lovely home and have such 'huge' problems! ;)

Onto my card...

I like this card! Isn't the little house adorable? It's a chipboard accent from the 'Finally Fall' collection from Bella Blvd.

Everything on this card is from the line except the craft string bow and the little button I added to the house!

A little stitching, some pot dots and ta-da! I hope you like it! And I hope it gets you to go to your crafty space to create something fun. No, you don't have to clean the house! ;) You can put that off for a few days, or another week! :)

Here are the fur boys! This photo was taken yesterday morning. They're in my craft room. They're here this morning too looking much the same! I joke about them being so helpful and full of energy! ;) I herd the two of them up to my office in the morning saying,"Come on boys, let's go work!" Then I follow behind them as we make our way up to the attic where they take their spot in the morning sun! It's a tough life!

Well, whether you clean, craft or take a nap with your lazy beast, I hope it's a wonderful day! :)

September First

Hi!

Here we are in September, fall slowly creeping in. Minute by minute our days are becoming shorter and temperatures are cooling degree by degree! I love that I can open my window at night, listen to the crickets and take deep relaxing breaths of fresh air! Soon the leaves will dazzle us with their brilliant colors and fall to the ground where they'll crackle under our footsteps! It's a glorious time of year!

One of my favorite things about this time of year is the crafty projects there are to create!

I made this card with 'Finally Fall' from Bella Blvd. Have you seen the collection yet? It's awesome and so much fun and easy to work with!

To make this circular shaped card I used my favorite Spellbinder's dies! There's something about round cards that are so cute, don't you think?

I'm currently working on a fall page. I think I've been struck by the autumn bug! Not too difficult when I browse all your blogs and see the beautiful things you're making. And Pinterest...they always have great ideas for autumn crafting! I hope you have a little time to create some crafty fall fun! :) Kathy
