Love Birds

Yippee, it's Friday! Have you visited the new Top Dog Dies site yet? They're just a week old today! How about I share another one of my projects using a couple of their cool new dies? This tweet card was created with their tri-fold card TW005, these adorable little birds TC005, and the From Me to You collection from Pebbles.

I adore birds and these two are super cute, don't you think? I'll be making a lot of projects with them! I think they would make great Christmas ornaments...I'll have to try that one and share it with you soon.

Top Dog Dies also has a new Facebook page that I hope you will go and Like. :)

Will you be doing any crafting this weekend? Paper crafts? Crocheting? Painting? Today's the fifth day in a row that I haven't seen the sun so I'm in need of some play time with bright and colorful supplies! Looking forward to sharing what I make! Have a super weekend!

Happy Mail

T.G.I.F!

Have you heard about the Happy Mail project from Stacey Jillian and Doodlebug Design?

"Starting Sept. 1 2012, I Stacy Julian, declare that I will make and send 365 handmade cards with handwritten notes. Now I do not want to do this alone and I know with your enthusiastic support, we can do this. Join me in a pay-it-forward Happy Mail movement where people rediscover the joy of sending and receiving handwritten communication (with a stamp)."

What a great idea, don't you think? When I was asked if I'd like to participate I jumped at the chance!

I created this 'Hello Spring' Doodlebug 'Happy Mail' card for my blogger friend, Ruth, who always leaves sweet comments that make my day. Ruth also thinks of me often and sends me e-mails with links to things she knows I'm interested in. Thanks Ruth! I hope you enjoy your Happy Mail!

Thanks for visiting!

Thinking of You

T.G.I.F!

We just got back from our 6th annual trip to Carolina Beach yesterday. Oh how time flies when your lounging on the beach and stuffing your faces with seafood!

I have a card share for you....a card I made a few weeks back using a mix of this and that including a page from a vintage book I have that's falling apart.

I fussy cut this flower, added a bit of hand stitching, a stamped sentiment, a bit of washi at the top of the tag and a length of jute.

It's always fun to just play and throw a bunch of random items together.

Hope you have a great Friday!

Thinking of You

Hi!

I have a bright and cheerful card to show you today, created with the Splash collection from Echo Park and a card sketch from Design by Diana.

Below is Diana's awesome sketch.

I really liked the layering and knew it would be perfect for these colorful papers.

With bright and happy colors and whimsical patterns a playful pinwheel makes a good focal point.

These pretty gems and rub-on letters are from Doodlebug Designs.

Other supplies include a thin metal circle die from Spellbinders, a brad from Dear Lizzy and a Fiskars scalloped border punch. The red polka dot paper is from My Mind's Eye 'Love Me' line.

Before I go it is with a heavy heart that I would like to share some news. It was on Facebook almost 2 1/2 years ago that I heard from another paper crafter about a retired couple in Southern California who put up an owl box in their backyard. They were avid bird watchers interested in attracting barn owls. It took almost 2 years before a pair of owls came to nest in that box and the retired couple, Carlos and Donna, named them Molly and McGee. They also wanted to share the experience of watching these owls with their family and soon discovered that they could run live feed via USTEAM. The news about these owls on USTREAM spread to people all around the world and there were news stories about them in the paper as well as TV. I watched Molly and her owlets for months until they fledged. I work at my desk in front of a computer which allowed me to peek in on the owl box throughout the day. It was a great experience that I shared with Christopher. Later Molly and McGee went on to have two more clutches and we got watched most of the third clutch too. This month Molly and McGee began to work on a fourth clutch when McGee disappeared just a few days ago. Owls in the wild live an average of two years so it was inevitable that he would not return one day. It's very sad news none the less.

A lot of people in the scrapbook industry watched Molly so I thought I would share the news and a link to Molly's blog so you can leave a comment for Carlos and Donna Royal here.

I'll miss you McGee!

If any of you knew of Molly and McGee, I'd love to hear about it...leave a comment.
