Crafty Weather

Brrr...we're covered in snow, ice and slush this morning and more is on the way which makes it a perfect day for crafting!

While we've been snowed-in, I've been paper crafting, crocheting and working on a cross stitch project that's nearly complete. I love when I can combine a couple of these hobbies as I've done with this card using Pebbles' new Garden Party paper collection and this little loopy crochet flower I designed.

If you're interested in learning crochet, all you need is a hook a ball of yarn and the Yarnspiration on-line video tutorials. They're super easy to understand, they go real slow and I was able to make a dishcloth right away. Soon I was able to make a scarf and a blanket which gave me lots of practice with the basic stitches. Lately I've discovered tons of simple project patterns and YouTube videos, pinned on my Crochet Board, that have taught me the basics of granny squares and more. I'm reaching the point where I understand how it works which enables me to create some simple designs like the loopy flower on my card.

For those of you who have a little crochet experience, here's how to make my loopy flower...

...start with a magic ring.

Chain 15, then slip stitch into your ring.

Repeat the chain 15, slip stitch into the ring for a total of eight petals. Finish off using your tails to attach a button. That's it!

These flowers so easy and there's a million different things you can do with them! Tomorrow I'll be back with a scrapbook page I embellished with loopy flowers. I've also been making a bunch to create a hoop art project with. The possibilities are endless!
