Bella Blvd. & The Twinery Team Up

Where has this week gone? As they say, time flies when you're having fun, right? Are you having fun yet? This week's team-up between Bella Blvd. and The Twinery has been a blast! Who knew there were so many ways to use twine?!?!

For today's project, I put on my creative thinking cap and came up with this Twinery 'frame' for my Easter Egg scrapbook page.

It's super simple to make a frame like this!

All you need is a scoring board with bone folder, twine, glue pen, piercing punch and a large needle used for needlework. Don't worry if you don't have a score board, you can use a ruler and a embossing tool instead.

Here's a up-close look at the piercing punch I used. You could use a regular piercing tool (awl) if you don't have one of these.

To get started, place a 12" x 12" piece of card stock on your score board, measure 1 1/2" inches in from the edge and score your line leaving 1/4" at the top and bottom unscored. Then make a second score line 1/4" parallel to the first. Repeat this step until you have a double line boarder around your page.

Now, using your piercing punch, punch holes at the ends of each line.

The next step is to cut 8 - 14" lenths of twine and thread your needle with one. Working from the bottom of your page bring your needle up through one of your holes until you have just an inch remaining underneath to secure with tape. Now bring your needle down through the hole at the opposite side and secure that end with tape. Repeat until you have all your twine threaded.

From this photo, you can see the corner of my twine frame. I was able to acheive this cris-cross pattern by threading the outer pieces of twine in a clockwise rotation first and then theading the inner pieces the same way.

The secret to getting your twine to stay in place is to use your glue pen to 'draw' along the scored lines. Do this after all your twine is in place otherwise glue gets all over! It's easy to 'roll' the twine away from the score line just enough to add the glue. Also, keep in mind that you don't have to glue the entire length of each piece of twine as long as you get most of the middle section.

The Bella Blvd. collection I used for this project is called Sunshine and Happiness. Can you see why? ;) It make me very happy to play with, gets my creative juices flowing! I also used the brand new Flags, Buttons, High Five Alphabets and Ciao Chip Clouds to accent my page.

This concludes my Bella Blvd. and Twinery Team-Up post for the day. I really hope you enjoyed it and that you leave here with a couple tips for creating your own Twinery frame.

I'm really excited about tomorrow's project. I think it's my most creative twine project yet! Are you curious? ;)

Have a super day!

Kathy :)
