Pop-Up Valentine Card

Valentine's day will be here in just a couple more weeks! How about sending your sweetheart a pop-up card for the occasion? Inspired by Tami Maberry's card from the winter issue of CardMaker, I created a floating hearts card posted here. 

It's a balmy 6 degrees outside this morning, the coldest it's been since we moved to North Carolina 9+ years ago! Schools are closed once again and Christopher is looking forward to playing in the snow some more.

Couch cat, Latte, is unaware of the freezing cold...he's having a nap in the living room this morning.

Young Oreo isn't bothered by the snow, he sits in the snow that gathered on the patio.

Cold winter gear lines the kitchen counter.

Snowy weather is the perfect time to continue with my crochet lessons...I learned how to make these flowers yesterday using this tutorial.

Polka dots, stripes and hearts oh my! Along with a some dry embossing. Lots of yummy layers and textures...just the way I like it!

Yesterday we were expecting a pretty big snow storm to come our way. As I mentioned in my post Tuesday, schools were closed, some folks decided it was a good idea to pick up a few groceries at the store and then we all waited. And waited. And waited. The several inches we were supposed to get in the early afternoon never came. We did however get a couple inches in the middle of the night.

There was enough snow for Dan to sweep off the deck and stairs before it turns to slippery ice.

There was enough snow to entertain Christopher.

And...there was enough snow to warrant hot cups of cocoa when the boys came back inside!

Brrrrr!

Another Snow Day!

This is our third snow day in a row! We don't usually get enough snow in our area to warrant schools having equipment to clear parking lots and sidewalks so the kids can't go back yet. Hopefully tomorrow! My son is getting seriously board! It's so bad that he's been creating his own homework each night in an effort to keep with routine! I've got to laugh at that!

We're also in need of groceries after five days since the snow fell. So my husband made an attempt to get our Honda Civic up the long drive. He almost made it too! Thank goodness he had the sense to back the car in so that we didn't have to back out in this mess!

So this is our driveway today. A mucky mess of ice water and snow...I think that would be called slushy! That's how far hubby got the car before it got stuck. So he's out there now shoveling the rest so I can get to the store. I can see why schools are still closed if their parking lots and sidewalks look like this!

Anyway, with all these snow days, I've had a lot of time for crafting. Here's a card that I made for my dear friend's blog challenge. I made the die cuts for this card, the fancy rectangle and leafy twig, with my Silhouette. I love my Silhouette! I use it for almost every project! I think its well worth the investment!

Snow Pages

Last night I was really in the mood to craft so I scraped some recent photos of Christopher enjoying our winter snowfall. I really like the way these pages turned out so I wanted to share them with you! The previous two pages I made, I wasn't so crazy about! The national weather service says we might be in for some more snow next Tuesday, so there maybe another opportunity for some more snow fun and photos. :)

Snow Day Two

No new snow today, but because some of the snow got slushy late in the afternoon yesterday and we had teen digits overnight, everything was icy this morning. Schools were closed again today due to hazardous road conditions. That makes it a five day weekend for Christopher! He and I went outside this morning to play and I made this wee snowman. Again, the snow was so powdery so it was awfully difficult just to make these few snowballs, but I was determined! After putting the body together I ran up to my scrap room for the ribbon and buttons. Scrap supplies come in handy for all sorts of things! Cute, huh? He's sitting on our deck railing where there's no sunshine so maybe he'll last through the day and part of tomorrow. He'll be toast for sure come Friday as it'll be close to 60 degrees.

Snow Day!

It's about time for a snow day! We moved to the Raleigh, North Carolina area just over four years ago and today we're getting the most snow we've seen during that time! We're supposed to get an average of eight inches a year, but two of our winters here had no measurable snow and the others had a half inch and an inch. We're expected to get up to seven inches today and we're thrilled! Christopher is beside himself with excitement and can't wait to go out again and do some more sledding. It's real powdery snow, hard to make a snowball or snowman, but it'll be easier to shovel from the sidewalk and drive. Here's a picture of my guys taking another trip down the driveway.
