80 Degrees!

Looks like I brought a little sunshine and warm temperatures home from Arizona! It's going to be close to 80 degrees today! Yay! It's the perfect time to indulge in a frozen treat and to share this Hello Scoop scrapbook page that I made a while back. 

This picture was taken last spring at Volmer Farms where we go every year strawberry picking. 

Afterwards we make a pit stop in their country store for a few fresh veggies and homemade ice cream. 

It's one of my most favorite springtime family activities and it'll be coming up at the end of this month or the beginning of April...depending on when those juicy strawberries are ripe! 

The Hello Scoop stamp set was perfect for adding yummy ice cream treats to my page. They were sooooo fun to color with the Fusion Blender solution and re-inkers.

Hmmm...just thinking, now that we're vegan, we'll have to think of an alternative treat on strawberry picking day. We just might have to wait until we get back to make a fresh picked strawberry smoothie! Yum!

Mix & Match Monday

Hi!

Did the weekend fly by or what? It always does! I cooked, baked, cleaned, went grocery shopping and relaxed. Nothing glamorous, but enjoyable. How about you?

Today I have a scrapbook page to share with you. It's Mix and Match Monday over at Pebbles and this is my contribution. Can you spot the collections I combined to create my page?

Individually, these lines have their own distinct feel, but they share a few similar colors which makes them perfect for mixing and matching!

I couldn't resist creating another page of our sweet little Oreo.

Snow Place Like Home

Hi! I'm so happy to have you drop by for a visit!

We're expecting snow again this coming Monday! We've stocked the pantry and I plan on making a pot of split pea soup today. Hubby even bought a snow shovel! It's about time since we've been living here in North Carolina for six years and have been using a garden shovel! However, now that we're prepared, we'll get just a few flakes!

When we moved here, we bought a sled anticipating our first snowfall and how fun it would be to take a spin down our long sloping driveway! Shoot if it didn't snow for two years! That will teach us! Funny how things work out!

Speaking of snow, I have a snowy scrapbook page to share with you. It's my first page for the new year!

The patterned papers I used are from a new digital kit at Two Peas in a Bucket called 'Month by Month - January Papers'from Shelley Castillo. I had to have this kit when I saw this snowman paper! And with all the snow we've been getting, I'm sure it'll come in handy for more snowy pages! Oh and winter greeting cards too!

I used the gray patterned paper for the snowflakes that were cut with the Silhouette die cutter and then I hand stitched them to my page.

The peach paper with snowflake print was used to accent the page. I made borders and tucked some under my title.

Here's Christopher all bundled up, snowball in hand...ready or not, here he comes! :)

For the journaling, I made this vellum tag accented with some of the gray paper and finishing off with a simple jute tie. As you can see I utilized a few border punches and decorative scissors.

So, what are your plans for this weekend? I really need to finish my December Daily album! I wish I were feeling more motivated to do it! Seems after the holidays are over, I just don't have the same enthusiasm to work on it!

I've been doing a little bit of treasure hunting at my local thrift and antique stores lately and scored some incredible deals that I hope to share with you in the next couple days. I just took photos today so all I have to do now is get the photos cropped...well, you know the drill. So, go make some great memories this weekend and I'll 'see' you soon! :) Kathy

On A Roll

I've been making so many cards and holiday projects lately that I haven't created any scrapbook pages in weeks! Oh no! I have so many fun summer photos too, so I decided to put down the holiday papers and accents to do a page. And guess what, I ended up doing two! Two very summery pages...ah, I'm going to miss summer!

Too Cute!

Most of us do not get to see one of these little guys up close and personal. This is Sonic the hedgehog and he is staying with us for a little while since his owner is out-of-town. He is an African Pygmy hedgehog and as you can see he is about palm size. He does not do a whole lot since he is nocturnal. When he is awake a night he is not much more active aside from snacking on some meal worms. Yum! He sure is cute, however! And he loves to curl up in my lap for a little nap while I read.

One of the things we scrapbookers love is sharing our work with one another! I'm always so excited to show off my latest creations and I can't wait each day to log onto Two Peas in a Bucket and see all the work my friends have done. I was excited to see that my 'Spring' scrapbook page was featured as the project of the day last week on March 17th! Now how fun is that!

Fun at the Playground

I had the best time scrapbooking with the design team gals at the Paper-Playground yesterday!Their new March kit is fabulous and so much fun to work with! I made these goodies with the kit. The thank you card was made with one of two Daisy Bucket blank cards included in the kit. I love how this card turned out and want more! Sharing the Love

Yes, Valentine's Day has now past, but I'd like to share with you the sweetest little Valentine I received from my son. He came home from school last Friday so excited about exchanging Valentine's cards and treats with his classmates that he sat down at his art table in my office and began crafting away. When he was done he came over and handed me the adorable Valentine card photographed on this scrapbook page. I included the one I made for him as well, the blue one. It's these little moments that make life so sweet.

What to do with those Christmas Cards?

Here's a few environmentally friendly ideas for your Christmas cards now that the season is behind us. Recycling them provides companies such as Seventh Generation the post consumer paper it needs to produce their toilet paper, facial tissue, paper towels, and napkins. Whole Foods market makes their brand of these products under the 365 label. Even Staples sells printer paper made of 100% post consumer recycled paper. Don't forget to buy these items or it does little good to recycle.

Reusing your Christmas cards and to/from tags is an even better option. If you have to/from tags that open like greeting cards, keep the front of the tags and cut off the writing portion. Most of my tags this year were from the year before which also saves money. As for your holiday cards, you can cut out some of the pretty images and glue them onto a new piece of card stock to send out next year. This is a fun project for the kids to help you with.

If you like to keep your cards and all the photographs that come with them, the photo above is a scrapbook page made of Christmas cards. I saw this project a couple years ago on Two Peas in a Bucket. You cut up some of your cards into 1 1/2" squares and apply them to a 12"x12" piece of scrapbook card stock. This page has a pocket in it to hold all those cards with photos or handmade designs that you want to save. Now you have a beautiful scrapbook page and a safe place to keep those holiday cards and pictures.

Make Lemonade from Lemons

A lot of my holiday crafts are either given away or sold on my Etsy site, so I wanted to document the things I've made this season with a scrapbook page. I really like the way this page turned out. I think it's simple, but pretty. With some of my pages, it takes more time to figure out a design, color scheme and embellishments, but this page just came together. And as I was standing back admiring my work, I gasped to realize that I left the 'r' out of my title!

Like many other things in life, my scrapbook pages do not always turn out the way I envisioned and I have to find a way to fix my mistakes. In this case I didn't have an extra capital 'c' sticker that would allow me to cover up my misspelled word and then spell over it again. In this case, my only option was to squeeze the 'r' in and make it look as good as possible. In doing so I had to do some creative cutting with my craft knife. Well, there you have it...it's not perfect, but I salvaged my page.

Looking a lot Like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at our home. The tree is up, there's glitter strewn around from making our annual Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards and packages are arriving each day.

Here's a scrapbook page from our tree trimming last weekend. Christopher put up his Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater ornaments and then went to play so we don't have a photo of him. I am the one who can spend hours decorating the tree. Then, when all the ornaments have been hung, Dan places the star on top.

It sounds a lot like Christmas in our house too with the carols playing much of the time. And before too long, it'll smell a lot like Christmas when I start baking goodies. I'll pick out one of my favorite recipes next week and post one for you to try. Well, here's to enjoying the activities of the season! Cheers!

Slice of Life

Here's a slice of my life page...darling son enjoying an after dinner treat. He picked a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and this is how he went about eating it! I don't know how he made such a nice little hole without breaking it. Talent!

Busy Week

Wow, it's been a busy week. Nothing special going on just busy with the everyday stuff. I did manage to get a couple scrapbook pages done. This is one of Christopher and I planting flowers that will survive frost. I finally remembered that I wanted to do a page where my pictures are either black and white or faded and then you print the pictures again in color and layer some of the color photo over the top. Kind of a neat look, don't you think?
