Random Bits

Hi!

Today is a very special day for me and the hubs. Today we've been married for 21 years! I can't believe how fast these years have flown by and how fortunate we are to share such a strong bond. I'd marry him all over again in a heartbeat! He's truly my better half! Happy anniversary Dan-O!

For the past couple weeks we've been witness to a pair of Carolina wrens nesting in this bird house hung up outside our kitchen window. We think it's the same pair from last year. It's been awesome to watch them building their nest and mom nesting while dad brings her food. Before you know it, you can hear little peeping sounds when the chicks hatch.

Carolina wren parents both share in feeding the babies. This photo was taken just hours before they fledged.

Here's one of the little ones on the ground just after leaving the nest. See the down sticking out of its head? Sorry the pictures aren't more clear. Hubs took them quite a distance away, inside the house.

Here's one of the parents watching over baby and instructing it to fly up into the tree. Good luck little ones!

Another share today...I have a card scheduled to be posted on the Card Annex blog today.

Here's a little peek for you.

Well, we're right around the corner from another glorious spring weekend. I'm looking forward to it! The weather has been glorious and it's a treat to spend time outside in the yard.

Thanks for visiting! :)

Christmas in May

Thank you all so much for your supportive comments yesterday! They really mean a lot to me and helped me through a difficult day! Today is a new day and I've got a rich gooey chocolate cake to bake. Christopher is excited and was talking about it on his way out the door to school. Today is a new day!

Today is also May 1st and I have a Christmas card to share. As many of you know, the paper craft magazines are preparing their holiday issues and the pub calls have gone out. In between other projects I've been busy making a few holiday cards. I made this card yesterday, not realizing that the vintage image isn't really vintage and belongs to Paulo Viveiros Design and Illustration which means I can't submit it for publication.

Instead I get to share it with you! And I love sharing projects with my crafty pals! Isn't this image adorable?!?! They have a lot of good ones so when you have a chance, go check them out.

I printed the image twice so I could use a Spellbinders circle die to cut frosty out and attach it with pop dots. The dry embossed snowflake background was created with a Cuttlebug folder. I made the little 'Let it SNOW' flag with a straight pin and sticker from the Holiday Style collection of October Afternoon. A twine bow and rusty jingle bell are the finishing touches.

Before I go I'd like to share a couple photos my husband just took. He called me down from my office to tell me that the Carolina Wrens that have been nesting in a bird house we hung outside our kitchen window just fledged. Before he could get the camera, three babies were perched on our deck railing! Fortunately, there was still one there to photograph!

The baby is the one on the right. The other two are his parents. Look at the down on his head...such an adorable little baby bird! You can click on the image to get a larger shot.

Baby decided to hop down from the railing where we got a couple of good shots. Isn't he a handsome little guy? I feel so fortunate that Dan saw these guys leave the nest this morning! It happened so fast...just a few minutes and they were gone. Good luck in the world little ones. Maybe you will raise your own family in the same bird house?

Thank you for visiting! And thanks again for your kind words yesterday! Today is a new day! Let's make it a wonderful day!

Tag! You're It!

I've got a tag share for you today!

I have a bunch of projects in the works, but none that I can show you yet so I created this tag this morning.

It's fun to grab a bunch of odds and ends and put something together. Isn't it funny how much mess you can create with one small project? You should see my desk....stuff all over! :)

This rosette was left over from a previous project. I usually make a few with different patterned papers and there's always one that doesn't make the cut. This heart is also left over from a card I made recently. The brad is Basic Grey and is about one of three left in a pack I've been trying to use up. I've had a package of Bingo cards forever...just waiting for a project.

A scrap of polka dot paper and a bit of twill. Can you see the old mother of pearl button behind the jute bow? Too bad it got buried back there. I used it as the 'o' in adore.

I think the Kraft tag is the last of a package from Martha Stewart. The text paper is from a vintage book that's falling apart which makes it perfect for crafty projects!

Before I go I have a cute squirrel picture to show you. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while might remember the other squirrel photos I've shared? We have quite a few rascally squirrels residing in our back yard!

On a recent rainy day we found this soggy little dude checking out my milk glass planter. There had been some flowers in it a while back. Now all that remains is a little dirt that he thought was tasty...he was licking the inside! Funny critter!

Oh...another photo...

This is the pair of Carolina Wrens that are nesting right outside our kitchen window. Little sweeties! You know what? If you stand at the window too long or they see one of our kitties inside the window, they get mad! They start to chatter and give you the what for!!!!

Hope you have a lovely day!

Kathy
