Love is in the Air

Love and a lot of snow abound! Thank goodness this weekend's eastern blizzard didn't come far enough south to blanket us with more snow! We already had our share last week when school was closed for three days!

Can you believe Valentine's Day is next Sunday! Even though I've made a lot of cards, I still have the most important card to make...one for my darling husband! Yikes! I better get a move on so I'm not making it last minute!

Here's Laura's sketch that my card was based. Fun, isn't it? It was cool to work a card of this size and shape. Our sponsor for the week is Sakura pens! I love their glitter pen! I used it on the brown flowers to make a little glitter dot in the center of each flower. If you click on the card, you will get a bigger image and can see the glitter. It's a quick way to add glitter without all the mess!

Our Star Student

It's the end of the semester at school for Christopher and he did wonderfully! Christopher has always had great academic scores, but struggles with using his time wisely and working with others due to his autism. This year, however, in the third grade, he's really maturing and working hard and made perfect marks in every category. His dad and I are so proud that I had to make a page!

This is a hybrid page using colorful and glittery digital papers from a kit called Glitterati - All Star by Betsy Tuma of Two Peas in a Bucket. I love the look of glitter, but it makes a big mess! This digital version is easy on the clean-up and so much quicker too!

This next project I'd like to share is a card that can be used for Valentine's Day or any day. I like the no reason to send a card kind of days! When it's least expected!

Another Snow Day!

This is our third snow day in a row! We don't usually get enough snow in our area to warrant schools having equipment to clear parking lots and sidewalks so the kids can't go back yet. Hopefully tomorrow! My son is getting seriously board! It's so bad that he's been creating his own homework each night in an effort to keep with routine! I've got to laugh at that!

We're also in need of groceries after five days since the snow fell. So my husband made an attempt to get our Honda Civic up the long drive. He almost made it too! Thank goodness he had the sense to back the car in so that we didn't have to back out in this mess!

So this is our driveway today. A mucky mess of ice water and snow...I think that would be called slushy! That's how far hubby got the car before it got stuck. So he's out there now shoveling the rest so I can get to the store. I can see why schools are still closed if their parking lots and sidewalks look like this!

Anyway, with all these snow days, I've had a lot of time for crafting. Here's a card that I made for my dear friend's blog challenge. Audrey Pettit went on a little walk the other morning with her camera to photograph the beautiful snowy woods and posted some colors to use in a project. I made the die cuts for this card, the fancy rectangle and leafy twig, with my Silhouette. I love my Silhouette! I use it for almost every project! I think its well worth the investment!

Snow Day!

Our weekend snowstorm has left us with icy roads this Monday morning which means there's no school for Christopher today. I think a snowman is on the agenda! And some crafting! I don't ever get tired of playing with paper! Sometimes I may not feel inspired to start a particular project, but then all I have to do is hop around my favorite blogs and browse the gallery at Two Peas in a Bucket and that gets me going!

You know what else gets me in a crafty mood? A good card sketch like those at 2 Sketches 4 You! And wouldn't you know it, today there's a new sketch from Kazan! And another chance to win a great prize package from our sponsor KLM Digital Designs.  Here's Kazan's fabulous sketch! It was so fun to make a round card this time!

This is my interpretation of the sketch. I colored in my image with Copic markers. I just got them a few weeks ago and I'm still learning, but I'm pretty happy with my coloring on this one.  To make the card base I used a die cut from Silhouette. The pink ribbon-like tag was also made with the Silhouette.

This card is going to be donated to a very special cause I discovered while blog hopping. Over at Jennifer McGuire, Ink I found out about 'Cards for Kids' a call to send cards to some very sick children. I hope you can hop over and read some stories about these brave kids and send a few cards their way.

One last project I'd like to share before I go throw a few snowballs is this scrapbook page of my son watching a steam train.

Each summer we take a drive to New Hope Valley Railway to hop aboard a real steam train. For my train enthusiast, this is the one of the highlights of summer! If you are ever in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, I recommend a visit. They have a small train museum and a model train display as well. Oh, and the fresh squeezed lemonade is out of this world!
