Ducky Birthday

Oh how much fun I had yesterday creating this birthday card with an adorable new kit called 'Summer Dyes' by Wilna Furstenburg!

The sweet little duck is from another kit of Winla's, called 'Somebunny to Love' ,that came out in the spring.

I love the way the 'happy birthday' rub-on sentiment from Pebbles, Inc. looks like it's part of Wilna's background paper.

The inside of the card reads, "Hope your day is just ducky!"  Wilna's style is so fresh and whimsical, I love it! Her kits are ones that will be used again and again!

This kit has 13 awesome vintage style background papers that I had to have!

Ripe Bananas?

In the heat of summer bananas ripen quite fast and at my house when we have a couple of ugly, black spotted bananas sitting in the fruit bowl, it's time to bake some banana bread! I've been using this recipe for years and I always double it so we can share with friends and neighbors. You can score some pretty big points with this oh so sweet bread that should be called cake! ;)

Kona Banana Bread

1/2 cup vegetable shortening (I use butter)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
3/4  cup ripe mashed bananas
1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in banana. Sift together dry ingredients and add to banana mixture. Mix until well blended. Pour into greased 9x9x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cut into squares, cool and eat.

As I mentioned, I double the batch, use butter instead of vegetable shortening and I use all organic ingredients. Our Super Target sells organic flour, sugar, butter and eggs at a great price. I like to make little loaves of bread so adjust the baking time to 40-45 minutes. Another little addition of mine is to sprinkle a little cinnamon and sugar on top before I bake. Oh so good!

Let me know if you give it a try. I made this bread a couple weeks ago and my son couldn't get enough!  He wanted it in his lunch every day along with some after dinner each evening! Needless to say, we didn't share with the neighbors that time! :)

Four Eyes!

Here's a photo of me with my new glasses, bifocals! Thank goodness there are no-line bifocals today! I got them in January and just now getting around to a page. This is a hybrid  project created with yet another awesome digital kit called 'Lazy Afternoon Kit'    by Shelley Castillo of Two Peas in a Bucket. Just look at those puffy clouds and fun trees! I thought the paint chips included in this kit make great journaling spots!

The glasses are a die cut from who other than Silhouette? You know me and my Silhouette! ;)

So that's my crafty share for the day. I worked on a page this weekend with the new Digital Doodles stamp that will be coming out tomorrow. It's a yummy one! Hope you can sneak away from whatever you are doing to pop in and take a look! :) Kathy

Digital Doodles Release - Beach Parasol

The dog days of summer are in full swing and so I thought a 'Beach Parasol' might be in order for a little shade from those hot sun rays! I also thought it would be a pretty versatile image since you could use it for baby and bridal shower projects as well as spring showers. Do you have another idea in mind? Well, while you are thinking it over, I'll show you what the design team gals and I put together.

Wow, what a wonderful bunch of cards! Now I want to go to the beach! Or at least outside to soak up a little sun! Although I don't know just how long I'd be out these with the heat. We're in the upper 90s this week with humidity. I think the pool is my best bet! With a pretty 'Beach Parasol' from one of these cards! So, what do you think? Do you have a favorite card here? Or perhaps you have a great idea in mind for this digital stamp? Well, it's just .99 cents at Two Peas in a Bucket. Pick one up today, make a project and let me see what you come up with!

Thanks for dropping in! I can't wait to hear what you think of today's release! :) Kathy
